Welcome baby!

Jason and I spent a very long all nighter at Capital Medical Center waiting for our beautiful niece Allyson Ann to be born. She weighed in at 8 lbs. 4 oz. and measured 22.5 inches. She ended up being delivered by C-section. Mom and baby are tired but doing great.

Extreme Makeover - Laundry Room Edition

So Friday night, I ran to my friend Stacie's house while Jason was watching TV on the couch. I got home a couple hours later and the dryer was still running. I thought that was odd since I had turned on the dryer BEFORE I left. I felt the clothes and no heat whatsoever. Kept trying every setting, no heat. Since we bought these when we first moved into the house, we decided to go shopping and check out an upgrade. See the before and after below. I love my new toys. They even play songs for you at the end of their cycle!

Wiped out

After running the farm on Sunday, the dogs were all tuckered out. Roscoe was totally passed out and of course opened his eyes when he heard the zoom. Darn!

Dog pile

Duke and Roscoe went to get groomed on Friday so they were all nice and clean. Nice and clean means they are allowed to get into bed on the weekends with us in the morning. Fonzie is never too pleased to share the space with them. They are always SO excited though. We don't all exactly fit comfortably though. It's fun while it lasts though. Usually we get an elbow in a really uncomfortable place and that's the end of the party!

T-bone

No, not the nickname that George Costanza gave himself. Our steer (in the center, white face, red body) is almost ready for butchering. I remember when he was just a little thing that we had to nurse to health. It was cold and he got frostbite pretty bad on his nose from suckling off of his mom Betsy. It makes me sad to think what will happen to him. This is why we don't name the boy cows....

All about the berries

Saturday, we got up early and headed to Rainier. The blackberries were ready down along the river so we went to pick some. I tried to get pictures of Tess and Annie chasing butterflies but they were too far away and moving too fast. Duke, Roscoe, Dutchess, Tess and Annie served as our bear security squad. They quite enjoyed the run down through the field. Gloria, Carrie (a very pregnant Carrie at that) and I picked blackberries. After the picking, Gloria and I made 43 jars of strawberry jam. Strawberry jam is always really foamy, we did some checking on the internet and figured out how to keep that from happening but it takes too long. One of our more perfect jars is pictured below.....
