Rest in Peace, Georgie

Jason's grandma, Georgie, passed away after a long battle with cancer on July 17th. She was a wonderful woman and will be greatly missed. Stories about her are legendary, she was quite ornery. She taught me how to make pickles, I learned from the master how to pack the jars as tightly as possible. She paid me a great compliment saying I was "a good packer." I only wish she had been alive to hear about the blue ribbon we just won for the pickles. Rest in peace Georgie, we know that you're in heaven dancing with Dick or driving dump truck.

Keeping cool

While we were finishing pickling, Jason went to the river with Carrie, Edgar, Allyson and their dogs. Winnie thought that the water was a perfect temperature.
Allyson was ready to go in her life vest....
She wasn't very happy about the water temperature though and wanted out!
I tried to put her feet in and she was lifting her legs as high as she could get them not to touch the water. Cracked me up!

Pickled Part 2

Think this can get exhausting or what? I had to take a break and snuggle with Fonz.
After helping us all day last Sunday, Troy asked if we could make pickled asparagus. We said, why not? So he got to spend another Sunday getting pickled.
We had to blanch the asparagus first. It was great quality.
We had our assembly line going in full force. Gloria just refused to be in the pictures.
We're done pickling. Next up in zucchini relish which we're dreading. If Jason didn't like it, I would refuse to make it.

Allyson's first fair

Carrie and Edgar came with us to the fair so we got to be a part of Allyson's first fair. Edgar contends that Allyson was there last year. We all said that in the womb did not count. She had a great time. It was a nice summer night. I can't believe it's August already!

My first blue ribbon

We scrambled last Sunday to get our entries together for the Thurston County Fair. Gloria called me after her lunch hour on Monday to tell me that I won a blue ribbon for my jar of pickles. Troy got one too. We headed south on Saturday night to go to the fair and see our stuff on display.
I liked the picture of both of us better than the one of just me so Troy gets to be a movie star on the blog yet again!
Watch out Puyallup Fair!

Holy frijoles Batman!

This is the onboard computer in the Mini. It actually said 107 degrees at my massage therapist's office. I didn't have the camera. I am SO glad that we put in AC last year! For those of you who are local, I can give you the name of our guy!
