Pickled

We made some pickles on Sunday. My morning started at Mosby Farms in Auburn. This is Al, one of the dogs who hangs out around there.
I started packing....
Troy agreed to help us, he washed all the cucumber. It was awesome to have a third person.
Jason even helped a little this year.....
We took the dogs to cool off in the river.
We took Troy out on the property. We went to parts of the hill that I had never even been to, Jason rode in the back of the Gator.
I drove the Gator until we got to what Troy and I called Suicide Hill.....
We came across more than one down tree. Jason learned that he needs to give me explicit instructions after he told me to push through it and he got whacked in the back by part of the tree. This was another down tree that they moved.
Troy got in the back for Jason to drive down Suicide Hill.
We went to check out the cows, you could see Mt. Rainier off in the distance. Betsy and our calf, check out that huge hay belly.
We got lots done, we made 64 quarts of pickles. This was round one, we're going to do 50 more pounds of cucumbers this Sunday. We're going to pickle some asparagus too, Troy wanted to try it.

If you have any jars, get them back to us! :)

Guinness 250

We went out with Brandon and Loreen on Saturday night. We started at the Issaquah Brewhouse and ended up at Paddy Coyne's in Bellevue. It was great to catch up with them. They're visiting from Florida.

Fonzie is 8.....

I will always remember the day that your Dad said, "I'm tired of not having a dog, you can get your dachshund!" By the end of the week, we had bought you before your Dad could change his mind. From the very beginning, you were tough, you were a ham. And oh boy, you were SO cute.
You're so photogenic and have always posed well for the camera. You know you get a biscuit for cooperating.

You've always loved your brother Duke. You guys used to play so much when you were puppies.
You love your sleeping bag and anything warm. To you, fleece was one of the greatest inventions ever.
You love to play fetch and never wear out. I can't believe we actually have a picture of you panting. You almost never pant.
You make yourself right at home. And Dad lets you.
Roscoe doesn't understand that your hedgehod is totally off limits. See Duke in the background in his kennel, he knows better than to mess with you!
I remember coming out of the shower one night to find Roscoe up in the bed with you. I can't believe you allowed this to happen.
I love that you burrow so deep that sometimes the only thing that you can see if the very tip of you nose.
You are such a little lizard dog. You are always perched wherever you can find sunlight.

I never knew that I could love anyone or anything as much as I do you my sweet, cranky, indignant, lovable, cute little hot diggety dog. Happy Birthday Fonzie!

Cherries Jubilee

There is a retired guy just up the road from us whose yard we have admired for years. It's always immaculate. I have noticed the last couple of years that he has a cherry tree that is always loaded but he doesn't seem to pick them. I finally got up the nerve to knock on his door (with a jar of jam on hand of course) to ask if I could pick the cherries. He was so surprised that I stopped to ask and even more shocked that I came bearing gifts. We went on Monday night and picked the tree pretty clean. Be on the look out for cherry jelly later this summer! Thanks Hugh for letting us pick the cherries!

Happy Birthday Carrie Part 2

We had dinner after all of the jam making on Sunday night. Miss Allyson is crawling now. It's pretty funny to watch.

It was a special day for Uncle Jason - Allyson went to him and didn't scream. They're making noises together.
Allyson loves her grandma.
She's still with Uncle Jason.....
And they're both smiling!
Happy 29th Birthday Carrie!

Happy Birthday Carrie Part 1

We went to 88 Keys in downtown Seattle on Saturday (sorry, I'm out of order). Coconut Punch was the yummy drink of the night.

We decided to pretend to be 21 again and did a wedding cake shot.
Carrie and Edgar had never been before. The birthday girl had fun until they made her come up and sit on the piano and they sang her a dirty song. She was a little embarrassed...
Me and Jason, Jason was of course not interested in the fruity drinks....Me and Troy

The dogs didn't help.....

Guess what I did on Sunday?

December in July

We headed to West Seattle today to take the Water Taxi over to downtown Seattle to go to Pike Place Market with Troy and Ty. The weather started out gray and overcast but got progressively colder.

I always love all of the flowers at the Market.

Jammin

We went to Rainier on Saturday and stopped at Spooner Berries to pick up raspberries for jam.

We checked out our camping space and it looks like we will be able to make our way to the island after for our annual party.
We checked on our calf. Turns out our cows are just as lazy as our dogs. They were all laying around until we got out in the field.

Meeting Elleanor

We went by Kim and Colby's on Thursday night to meet Elleanor. She's beautiful and quite cuddly. She was passed out the entire time we were there.

Spatial relation skills

Do you think that he realizes that this couch bed is actually designed for a small dog?

Congratulations Russell and Shauna!

Russell and Shauna got married yesterday at Bill and Gloria's. Everyone was dressed to the nines so it was a great photo opportunity. Allyson looked beautiful in her little white dress. Carrie didn't look too bad either.
The bride and groom after the ceremony and their first kiss.
Russell and Susan during their dance

Yesterday was Bill and Gloria's 39th wedding anniversary so they got their own special dance.
It was so hot that I changed out of my dress pretty much right after the ceremony and a family picture. I liked this picture of Jason and I better than the one of us in our dress clothes.

Lunch has gone to the dogs

We decided to hit Sonic for lunch today and took the dogs with us. Fonzie was most unhappy that he had to sit in back with the big dogs while we ate our food.

Picking the fruit....

Our cherry tree was not quite as loaded as it was last year. Last night after dinner, we did some cherry and blueberry picking.
Jason picking cherries off of the Charlie Brown Cherry Tree.
Check out the size of this blueberry - yum! Not enough to make any jam but they sure are tasty!

Five Guys have landed....

Jason and I were most excited to learn that a Five Guys Burgers and Fries had opened in Renton. I got home last night and asked, what do you want for dinner - Sonic or Five Guys Burgers and Fries? You can see what he chose. It was awesome, I highly recommend it. Words to the wise - don't go there if you are allergic to peanuts. Also, order ONE regular sized fry as that was way more than both Jason and I could eat.

Coming around the corner, horse #2 is in the lead...

Last Sunday, we went to Emerald Downs for the horse races. Jason got free tickets from work so we spent the afternoon out in the sun. We both got a little crispy. Jason was calling me Rudolph most of the week!

Date nights = cupcakes

I went out for my monthly date with Troy and Sarah last Friday. Jason came with us because we were going to see The Proposal afterwards. We went and got cupcakes for dessert again - the ones in the back row were Bing Cherry flavored - yum!

Jack attack

Last week, we dog sat for Jack last week while his mommy was in Vegas. As you can see, he made himself right at home.
